1851 Census (surname transcribed as Kenwell) - shows Edward and his wife, Ellen, and first two children, Charlotte (3) and Jane (6mnths), now living at Malthouse Yard in Bosham. Edward is a Carpenter Journeyman, following the trade of his father. A lodger, Martha Light who is an Assistant Teacher at the National School is also shown.
1858 Daughter Elizabeth dies in infancy.
1861 Census (surname transcribed as Heawell) records the family in Bosham village. Edward (34) a carpenter and Ellen (34). There are five young children now at home Charlotte (12), Jane (10), Edward (6), Thomas (4) and John (1). Another one, Ellen(8) (surname transcribed as Kavall), is shown at West Wittering, Sussex at the home of her aunt Matilda Bigwood, Grocers Shop. One child, Elizabeth, died in infancy.
1871 Census now finds the family living in The Wheelwright's Cottage. The three eldest children, Charlotte, Jane and Ellen do not live with them but the remaining six younger children do, together with Emma Jane, the 5 month old illegitimate daughter of Jane. Three of the boys now work. Edward, who will become the first Kearvell to emigrate to Australia in 1891, is a Bricklayer while both Thomas and John, although young teenagers, are now Agricultural Labourers. Edwards' brother, John Cornelius an unmarried Carpenter, also lives with them.

1881 Census finds the family living at Carpenters House, Bosham. Older children Charlotte, Jane and Edward are now married. Ellen , a Nurse, is now back at the family home whilst William now lodges with his sister Jane and her husband. Thomas and John are now both Carpenters whilst the youngest Eliza and Henry are at school.
1891 Census -shows Edward, a carpenter aged mid-60's and a widower, living as a Boarder in the house of John and Mary Loosemore at Gosport, Bosham, Sussex.
1901 Census (surname transcribed as Kervell) shows Edward, a carpenter aged mid-70's and a widower, continuing to live as a Boarder in the house of John and Mary Loosemore at Gosport, Bosham, Sussex.
1902 Death Certificate shows that Edward died in Westbourne Workhouse. Cause of death Heart Disease Syncope ( a sudden death, maybe "dropped down dead" - describing a mode of death rather than a cause.)
Edward married Ellen Ansell on 13 May 1848 in Bosham West Sussex. (Ellen Ansell was born on 25 Aug 1826 in Chichester Sussex, died on 30 May 1886 in Bosham West Sussex and was buried in Bosham Sussex.)
