A photo from Caroline Kearvell of her grandfather, Ernest Ede Kearvell - born in
1921 at Chidham West Sussex. As a young man he is pictured sailing his small dinghy
in Cutmill Creek, Chidham in about 1937. Interestingly, Ernest takes his middle name
from his grandmother, Emily Ede of Bosham.
If Ernest wished to continue sailing today, Chidham has several Sailing Centres where
the modern dinghy - such as Wayfarer, Pico and Laser II - can be put through their
paces.

The trophy is Division 1 Championship West Sussex Football League won by East Dean
F C, the club where Ernest's grandson, Peter, is the Manager
Ernest is the youngest son of Ernest Arthur Kearvell (1886-1969) and Alice Kate Staker
(1901-1992). He is pictured in about 1923 with his parents and older brother George
Frederick (1919-2003). His sister, Hazel Betty, was born the following year.
To the right we see a photograph of Caroline's father, Graham Douglas
Ernest Kearvell (1950- ) as a young Lance Corporal in the Bosham ACF on Armistice
Day Parade alongside Bosham Harbour. (p.s. he is the one
looking at the camera!)
